The report "Smart city smart street lighting" concluded that LED lighting has now become the substitution of the world's most traditional street lighting, intelligent control  become more and more widely uses and gradually go with LED lighting.

The Intelligent street lights may be an important tool for cities to adapt to future energy efficiency requirements, but there are still some obstacles. Navigant Research stressed these concerns: "remit citizens' concerns about surveillance and privacy intrusions, the complexity of projects and the demand of increasing capital, which are challenges faced by smart street markets."
